Northern Stars Policies

Helpful information for our parents

What You Need to Know

Enrolment & Payments Once you secure a place, your child stays enrolled until you let us know otherwise in writing. Payments is via monthly direct debit so is one less thing you have think about in your busy life.  You can switch classes anytime through our online portal or by contacting us. We don’t offer credits or refunds for lessons you miss or don’t use.
Make-Up Lessons Life happens, and we get that. You can earn up to twelve make-up tokens each year, and each one is good for three months. Just log the absence in the portal at least two hours before class. Once you have a token, book your make-up lesson through the portal within 24 hours of the desired class. Keep in mind, booked make-ups can’t be cancelled or swapped for credit, and any unused tokens expire at the end of the year or if you cancel enrolment.
Cancelling Your Enrolment We need two weeks’ written notice to cancel. The balance of your fees can be held as credit in your account. We don’t offer refunds for cancelled classes.
Swim Caps All children three and over need to wear a swim cap. It helps keep the water clean for everyone, stops hair getting in their eyes, and keeps them warmer in the pool.
What to Wear For little ones under three or anyone not fully toilet trained, we ask for a disposable swim nappy or a reusable swim nappy underneath a "Happy Nappy" (Splashabout Brand) with the Happy Nappy being the required outer layer. This double protection helps keep the water clean for all our families. Rash vests and board shorts aren’t recommended during lessons, as they can fill with air and water and make it harder for kids to move freely.
Staying Healthy If anyone has had vomiting or diarrhoea, please keep them out of the pool for seventy-two hours after the last episode. Kids with cold symptoms like green mucous or a productive cough, open wounds, or any contagious illness should also stay home until they’re well. Plantar warts just need to be covered.
Photos & Videos You’re welcome to take photos or videos of your own child during lessons. Please advise our staff if you would like to photograph / film your child in their lessons - images must be of your child only, or if other children, with permission of their parents only. Just a heads-up, no photography, including on phones, is allowed in the change rooms. Our team sometimes takes photos for training, events, newsletters, or social media. If you’d prefer we don’t use images of your child, just let the photographer know.
Safety We want everyone to have a safe, happy time here. Children need to be supervised when they’re not in their lesson. Please hand your child to and collect them from their teacher (or the gate if swimming at Dapto) and go with them to the toilet if needed. No glass or ceramics on the pool deck, and please take extra care with hot drinks. All food and rubbish should go home with you.
