Northern Stars Policies RE-ENROLMENT: As a current client, you will be offered first opportunity to retain your position for the next term. To do this, you must re-enrol with payment during re-enrolment weeks(3rd and 4th last weeks of each term). The last 2 weeks of term is then open for new bookings and changes, and all places not secured by re-enrolment may be taken by other clients. PAYMENT: Payment is by the term. Full Payment is required upon booking or re-enrolling to confirm your child's place in our program. Northern Stars accepts cash, cheque and eftpos. A transaction fee applies to all payments made through the customer portal. Visa/MasterCard $0.33 plus 1.76%. American Express $0.33 plus 3.85%, Debit Account $0.88 MAKEUP POLICY: In line with industry best practice we do not offer make-up classes. Experience has shown that make-up classes are disruptive to our staff and teachers, but most importantly to your child in their lesson. Because of our strict student to teacher ratio, missed classes will not result in make-up classes, prorated tuition or refunds. No refunds for classes missed including scheduled holidays (you do not pay for public holidays). If however, your child is absent for THREE CONSECUTIVE LESSONS, a replacement lesson will be offered upon the receipt of a doctors certificate, which must indicate the days the child was unfit to swim. BLOCK ABSENCE: If you know your child will be absent for an extended leave of three or more weeks eg. you are going on holidays, you can apply for a holding fee for these lessons, which is half normal lesson fee. CLASS CANCELLATION: Parents must notify the swim school if you wish to drop a student booking. We require 2 weeks notice to drop a class and the balance of fees paid can be transferred as credit into your account. You are responsible for payment for your student's classes WHETHER OR NOT YOUR STUDENT ATTENDS CLASS until the time you notify us for holding the student's place in that class instead of offering that place to one of the many on a waiting list. SWIM CAP POLICY: All children 3 years and over are required to wear a swim cap in our pool. This ensures maximum water cleanliness for all clients, keeps hair out of the child's eyes and keeps the child warmer whilst swimming. WHAT TO WEAR?: All children under the age of 3 years as well as children over 3 who are not completely toilet trained are required to wear a swimming nappy "Happy Nappy" over the top of a disposable swim nappy or another reusable aqua nappy. Wearing double layers reduces the incidents of contamination in the water. Management reserves the right to ask you to leave the pool if you do not comply to this policy. The wearing of rash vests and board shorts during swim lessons is not recommended as they fill up with air and water and impede the child's ability to swim with full movement. HEALTH: All persons with gastro bugs (vomiting and or diarrhea) must not enter the pool within 72 hours of the last episode. Children with cold viruses (green mucous/productive cough), open wounds, or any other contagious illness, must also stay out of the pool until they are well (preferably cleared by GP). Plantar warts must be covered. PHOTOGRAPHY / FILMING Please advise our staff if you would like to photograph / film your child in their lessons - images must be of your child only, or if other children, with permission of their parents only. Strictly no photography (including mobile phones) in change rooms. Occasionally our staff will photograph/film children in their lessons for teacher training, special events (eg. SAFER Swimming Week), newsletters, social media and website. Please advise photographer if you would prefer us not to use images of your child for these purposes. SAFETY Children in the centre must be supervised at all times whilst not in their lessons. Parents are requested to hand children to and pick them up from their teacher, and must accompany them to the toilet if necessary. No glass or ceramics allowed on pool deck, extreme care must be taken with hot drinks and all food items and rubbish to be taken with you (please check the floor when you leave).
